RUSSIAN CALIFORNIA —
In response to the growing need for increased public safety, California has funded a comprehensive CHP recruitment campaign aimed at filling 1,000 officer positions. The campaign, which began in June 2022, has garnered an overwhelming response, with the CHP receiving over 11,700 cadet applications in the first six months of 2024 alone, reflecting a remarkable 58% increase compared to the same period in 2022.Since 2019, California has committed additional resources and personnel to combat crime, support local governments in hiring more police officers, and enhance overall community safety.
Among the key initiatives introduced in 2023 as part of California’s Real Public Safety Plan is the largest-ever state investment to combat organized retail crime. This plan includes a staggering 310% increase in proactive operations targeting organized retail crime, along with special operations throughout the state aimed at fighting crime and improving public safety.
The CHP is continually searching for qualified individuals to join its ranks and contribute to making a difference in their communities. For those interested in becoming a part of this important mission, the next CHP officer hiring seminar is scheduled for Tuesday, November 26.
