Robert Minasyan is a renowned makeup artist with an international reputation, currently based in California. Originally from Yerevan, Armenia, he has worked in the beauty and entertainment industries across several countries, including the United States, Russia, Germany, and his native Armenia.
Born in 1974, Robert moved with his mother to Berlin in the early 1990s. His father, whom he only met twice, passed away in Armenia.
After years of living in Germany, Robert relocated to Moscow in 2002, a move that proved to be a turning point in his professional career. It was in Russia’s capital that he truly found his voice as a makeup artist and gained his first major recognition.
Robert studied for three and a half years at the prestigious Joe Blasco Makeup Artist Training Center School. After years of dedication to his craft, he began working with top celebrities. Fluent in Armenian, German, Russian, and English, Minasyan has built a truly global network.
In Moscow, he was invited by his close friend, stylist Alexander Shevchuk, to work on the Russian reality TV show Fabrika Zvyozd («Star Factory»). What was initially planned as a short visit turned into a decade-long professional chapter. He worked on Channel One Russia and collaborated with major stars, including the legendary Alla Pugacheva. His parallel commitments in Berlin meant frequent travel back to Germany.
In 2012, during a holiday trip to visit his mother, Robert decided to remain in Germany. For the next seven years, he worked with major German celebrities, most notably Verona Pooth — a TV presenter, actress, and model. Together, they attended high-profile events, including the Academy Awards in Los Angeles. Robert also collaborated with international stars such as the band Tokio Hotel.
His frequent visits to the U.S. sparked a love for California’s climate. Eventually, he decided to leave Germany behind and settle in Los Angeles. The transition wasn’t easy — the COVID-19 pandemic began shortly after his move — but Robert continued his work, now serving a new circle of American clients. He has worked with stars such as Eva Longoria, Jennifer Gareis, Mila Tkachenko, Anna Azerli, and Sabina Kravchenko.
Though he appreciates California’s natural beauty, Robert is candid about his personal disappointment with life in Los Angeles. After five years in the Golden State, he is considering relocating to Florida, drawn to its climate and what he sees as a more genuine social atmosphere. He has been invited to the U.S. as a recognized creative talent but remains a proud German citizen — not a refugee, as he emphasizes.
Despite the challenges, Robert remains passionate about his profession. He describes himself as friendly and open, yet admits that his closest friends — the people he has known for over 30 years — are still in Germany. He maintains that he will never abandon his craft, continuing to work “as long as his hands allow.”
For Robert Minasyan, makeup is not just a job — it’s a lifelong calling, shaped by decades of global experience and deep dedication to beauty as a form of self-expression.
